G. Byron Jamison is a senior litigator and technology transfer specialist. He specializes in technology law with an emphasis on computers and other complex electrical and mechanical arts. He has over twenty years of experience in varied range of commercial and intellectual property litigation, including software litigation, patent infringement and trade secret litigation and commercial warranty and deceptive trade practice litigation and trademark and trade dress infringement litigation. His practice also includes joint venture and joint product development agreements, computer software development and distribution agreements, licensing, technology transfers, due diligence analyses, infringement and validity analysis and new product and product name clearances.
Mr. Jamison's practice is national in scope. He has handled litigation in the Federal courts of California, Illinois, Alabama, South Carolina, New York, Washington state, Washington D.C., North Dakota and Minnesota in addition to numerous state and Federal court actions in his home base of Texas.
Mr. Jamison's litigation experience is highly varied. In addition to the usual intellectual property matters consisting of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation, he has handled a broad range of cases ranging from employment discrimination to lender liability, breach of contract to interference with business relations and defamation. His litigation has been an almost equal mix of defense and prosecution. He believes that this broad range of experience brings a broader perspective to the typical technology case.
Mr. Jamison is a result oriented attorney. He focuses all of his efforts on reaching the client's objective-be it victory at trial or pre-trial, a favorable settlement, alternative dispute resolution or a business solution.
Mr. Jamison received his B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969 where he concentrated in computer science and he received his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1972 with honors, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, Associate Editor of the Texas Las Review in 1971-72 and Quizmaster.
Mr. Jamison has a highly technical background, with expertise in such technologies as computers, consumer electronics, integrated circuits, display technologies, electronic imaging, seismic data processing, environmental systems and testing, oil field prospecting and service technologies, industrial processes, and mechanical systems and devices. During his undergraduate studies, he served as and Engineer/Scientist engaged in SONAR and RADAR simulation research for the Department of Defense under a Secret security clearance.
Mr. Jamison is a member of the State Bar of Texas; the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Ninth, Eleventh, and Federal Circuits; the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern District of Texas; the American Bar Association (litigation section); Houston and Dallas Bar Associations; Houston and Dallas Intellectual Property Law Associations; and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
